Lake St. Peter Park offers a variety of outdoor activities for the nature enthusiast and for those enjoying a quiet retreat. Enjoy exploring the park offshore, with canoe, kayak and paddleboat rentals. The park boasts a large picturesque, sandy shoreline, with horseshoe pits, a volleyball court and picnic areas. Lake St. Peter caters to anglers and boaters, who can launch from the ramp at the tip of the peninsula. The Lookout Trail crosses rugged terrain and leads to a spectacular lookout over the lake. Hikers can also enjoy the longer Cabin Trail, which branches off the Lookout Trail, to explore the history and inhabitants of an abandoned log cabin on the route.

Algonguin ParkThe essence of Algonquin is in its vast interior of maple hills, rocky ridges, and thousands of lakes. The only way to explore the interior of this park is by canoe or on foot. There is also a second Algonquin - along the 56 kilometre stretch of Highway 60. Here you can enjoy camping at one of eight campgrounds, hike one of 14 trails, take part in extensive Natural Heritage Education programs, and visit Algonquin's exceptional Visitor Centre, Logging Museum and Art Centre.

Hunting & Fishing North Hastings has long been recognized for its many angling opportunities. Our clean lakes and rivers offer anglers a variety of fishing experiences. We even have our own North Hastings species of fish, the Jewel Trout! Stocking lists for all lakes are available through the MNR website. Boats, maps and other equipment are available through our local outfitters.
When the leaves have fallen, North Hastings comes to life with the annual deer hunt, during the first two weeks of November. "The hunt" is an important part of local culture and our local economy. Hunters descend on North Hastings, hunt camps are filled and two weeks of quality hunting mixed with camaraderie make this a much anticipated annual event. In the fall of 2011, hunters are looking forward to their first elk hunt since the elk restoration project started in North Hastings a number of years ago. For hunting regulations please check out the MNR website link.
